Good Morning, Islanders Country.

When the Islanders started the west coast trip portion of this road trip, you expected the winning streak to reach six games, and you also knew that last night’s game was the one where it most likely would end.

After lopsided wins over the Sharks and Ducks, the Islanders played a mostly even game with the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night. It remained scoreless into the second period and a one-goal game heading into the third.

“We’re playing good hockey, and that’s the important thing to me. I mean, we played a good hockey game here. … It was 1-0 until midway of the third period," coach Patrick Roy said. "Honestly, I am very pleased with the effort, the back checking, how we compete with them. It was playoff hockey.”

Things weren’t as crisp for the Islanders against a Kings team that keeps play tight in the neutral zone and breaks out well, not allowing the Isles to sustain the zone time that has become a calling card under Roy. They only had 13 shots through two periods and were held to five even-strength chances for the game.
