Good Morning, Islanders Country.

It wasn’t easy, nothing ever is with this team, but the Islanders found a way to win a game at home against one of the league’s worst teams and do something they hadn’t done all season - win on the second night of a back-to-back.

For two periods, they worked hard and had chances, but the longer the game went on without an Islanders goal, the more tense things felt inside UBS Arena as the Isles appeared destined to squander another opportunity to gain ground in the volatile Eastern Conference playoff race.

I don’t know if the Islanders couldn’t beat most teams with that effort last night, but they were just good enough to beat the Blackhawks, the 31st-best team in the league. It was only their third win all season when trailing after two periods (3-23-2), and notably, they did it behind Ilya Sorokin, who was solid in his first start in four games as he built back confidence for the home stretch.
