Good Morning, Islanders Country.
The Isles’ recent hot streak isn’t only helping them keep pace in a parity-packed race for Wild Card spots in the Eastern Conference but also with last year’s team that made the post-season with 94 points.
After Tuesday night’s 2-1 win at home vs. Vegas, the Isles have 57 points in 53 games, matching last year's total. It is the first time since mid-November that they have been on pace with last season's point total.
That does not mean they’re on pace for 94 points—they’re on pace for 88—but this surge of 11 wins in 14 games now gives them a chance to be.
It can be easy to forget how long an NHL season is, especially at its lowest points. They were on a 73-point pace after dropping their first game of 2025. That’s last place in the Metro/lots of ping-pong balls in the NHL lottery territory.
A month later, they put themselves in an obtainable position to make the postseason for the third straight year after being counted out by most.
