Good Morning, Islanders Country.

Monday came and went and no news was good news for Lane Lambert.

If he’s on the ice for practice later this morning, it means that GM Lou Lamoriello believes the team has done enough good things to make it unlikely that the bad trends will continue.

Granted, it hasn’t been all bad for the Islanders; it’s just been really bad when they’ve had to protect a lead. Check this stat out ⤵️

Per Shanya Goldman in The Athletic, “In all situations, the Islanders lead about 37.7 percent of the time, which ranks ninth in the league. And the team only trails 20 percent of the time — only the New York Rangers and Boston Bruins spend less of their time facing a deficit.”

How does that make you feel?

The Islanders’ roster is still made up of the same personnel and top goaltending that made them among the best at clamping down and holding leads for years. Now, after being outscored 18-5 in the third period over the last ten games, they have the third-worst third-period goal-differential in the league.
