Good Morning, Islanders Country.
The Isles were awful last night, but at least they looked good doing it. I’m talking, of course, about the team wearing their “away” whites at home. That was the only enjoyable aspect of last night’s game, as Patrick Roy’s team was once again outplayed, outworked, and outclassed by a Stanley Cup contender.
The headline coming out of the morning skate was that Roy hasn’t been “100% pleased” with Ilya Sorokin’s performance lately, and that was before the struggling goaltender gave up a softie for the game’s opening goal and a back-breaking third with less than two seconds to go in the opening period.
The Isles hadn’t allowed a first-period goal in 10 straight games before allowing three on Tuesday night. They were booed off the ice after the first, and even worse, they weren’t booed after a lackluster second because the fans in attendance didn’t see the point; they had become indifferent.
