Good Morning, Islanders Country.
After Dallas, Pete DeBoer didn’t hide from what he saw.
He called it the most rush chances his team had allowed all season. He said the lesson was simple - you can’t play that game against good teams. Then he backed it up. Kyle MacLean came out of the lineup, Scott Mayfield went in, and the Isles dressed 11 forwards and seven defensemen for the first time under DeBoer.
He made comments that were meant to sting. He told reporters the fourth line’s expected goals for and against had to be in the same zip code.
That was the challenge. Tuesday was the answer, or at least the start of one.
The response at the start was exactly what DeBoer was asking for.
