Good Morning, Islanders Country.

When you wake up and see a 4-1 loss to the Kings in Los Angeles, you may assume it followed the exact blueprint as most Isles games in LA. It did not.

The Islanders had the power plays, but the Kings had the breaks - literally.

In what has been the story of the season, the Islanders went 0-for-8 on the power-play (for the first time since 2008) and allowed two shorthanded goals for the first time in team history. With the man advantage and trailing 2-1 in the 2nd, Tony DeAngelo’s stick snapped, sending Quinton Byfield on a breakaway that finished with a snapshot over Ilya Sorokin for a 3-1 Kings lead.

As if that wasn’t enough, the Islanders had not one but TWO disallowed goals for goalie interference in the second period. This is the first time an opposing coach has challenged twice in a period and had the challenge upheld versus the Isles. Patrick Roy believed the first, scored by Anthony Duclair following a Simon Holmstrom shot, should’ve counted because it came off a rebound. The second waved off an Anders Lee goal when his skate ever so slightly made contact while in the blue paint.
