Good Morning, Islanders Country.
It's a Quick Fix featuring Joe Buono (@IslesFix) and former VP of Communications for the Islanders, Chris Botta (@ChrisBottaNHL).
With former captain and Stanley Cup champion Brent Sutter set to be inducted into the Islanders Hall of Fame on Saturday night, Chris and Joe closely examine the Isles Hall of Fame candidacy of other alums potentially worthy of the honor.
Should Glenn ‘Chico’ Resch be the next to go in? What’s the delay in celebrating Pat LaFontaine's career? What about the player he was traded for, fellow Hall-of-Famer Pierre Turgeon? Does Ziggy Palffy’s stardom during the franchise’s dark days warrant consideration, and did Josh Bailey do enough, long enough, to be a clear Islanders Hall-of-Famer?
Chris has ideas on how Hall-of-Fame nights can be re-imagined and how to honor the remaining “core of the four” that don’t have their own plaques.

⏭ NEXT UP: The Islanders continue their homestand against the Philadelphia Flyers tonight. Face-off is set for 7:30 PM EST.
📊 STANDINGS:
📚 SOUND SMART: Per Eric Hornick in The Skinny, the Isles were shut out for the 6th time this season; it is the first time they have been blanked six times by the end of January since 2011-12 (eight times), and the first time Ottawa has done it to them in New York since February 20, 2012.
🎥 ISLES REWIND: On Jan. 16, 2015, with his Bryan Trottier in attendance, Kyle Okposo scored three of his career-high four goals in a four-goal third period as the Islanders rallied to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-3 at Nassau Coliseum.
“When I came into the league, my first rookie camp (Trottier) was there," Okposo said. "I just kind of picked his brain. The way that he carried himself and still carries himself is something that I really look up to and try to emulate."
🔗 Islanders’ power play problems reaching historically bad levels by Ethan Sears, New York Post “At a lowly 10.5 percent, including a scoreless streak that stretched to 0-for-25 in Tuesday’s 2-0 loss to the Senators, the Islanders are on pace to be the fifth-worst man-advantage unit since the NHL started keeping stats in 1977-78.”
🔗 New York Islanders are No. 25 in 2025 NHL prospect pool rankings by Scott Wheeler, The Athletic “After four consecutive years without a first-rounder, the Islanders’ pool ranked last in the league in last year’s project. After hanging onto their 2024 first-rounder and picking twice in the second round, though, it got a much-needed boost”
