Good Morning, Islanders Country.
A day later, the 6-3 loss in Dallas looked no better.
If anything, the film made it worse. A new X follow of mine, “Hockey Hacks,” broke down some of what went wrong on Sunday night.
The Stars generated 16 high-danger chances to the Islanders’ seven, according to Natural Stat Trick numbers cited in The Skinny. At 5-on-5, Dallas out-attempted the Isles 60-36. For a team whose identity under Pete DeBoer has been built on structure, those numbers are alarming.
DeBoer didn’t sugarcoat it. He told reporters Dallas generated probably the most rush chances the Isles had allowed all season in a single game, and he was blunt about what it meant against good teams. “The lesson in that is, you know, we can’t play that game against good teams,” he said.
