Good Morning, Islanders Country.

Did we forget how frustrating Islander games can be?

It’s been hard to shake the rush after spending seven days at Disney, so I can only imagine what 14 days away from NHL game action felt like for players this weekend. Looking at the schedule, you felt the teams playing Saturday and Sunday had an advantage over those waiting 24 more hours before face-off.

As expected, the Isles had some early rust, but just as they were finding their legs and rhythm, they were on the receiving end of a controversial five-minute major call on Casey Cizikas that derailed the game. This led to a pair of Dallas goals as Jason Robertson completed a second-period hat trick.

Under early-season circumstances, this was a performance the team could say they could build on. They were the better team as the game went on and had their chances to tie the game - including a goal waived off for goalie interference.
